as you've probably already read in al's diary, i met al early this morning to stand a chance of getting some decent boarding in while there was still some snow - luckily there was and in fact it was quite deep in places. after trying a couple of runs down the 'piste' al could see i was improving (!) and i think he was somewhat jealous of my carving technique - it consisted of sliding 20metres under no control whatsoever then delicately throwing myself face first into the snow. it must have seemed that this was of course just my lack of skill - but i meant to do it ;) (just for a 'laugh'!)

after failing miserably we tried snow-kiting (on the snowboard again) which it has to be said i was slightly better at this than i was normal snowboarding, i managed a couple of tacks, but al was getting into it ok. hopefully we'll have some decent shots to prove this when the film's developed (if only i'd remembered my digital camera!)

wind picked up a little bit so we packed up the kites and carried on snowboarding. i tried to do a bit of mountain boarding on a bit of shallow snow, and managed ok for a little while until i hit the deeper snow - the board stopped dead and yet again i was chewing the snow face down. you win some you lose some eh!?

enjoyed it - quite an experience being able to do this kind of sport in the uk when normally it costs us a fortune to go abroad.

and despite being crap i did really enjoy my first snowboarding experience. give me some skis anyday though!

fingers crossed for some more snow!
